The Story Behind Our Name

OPUS MOON    WILD HORSE ANTHOLOGY

One may wonder what the words "opus" or "moon" have to do with wild horses. Each to themselves, really nothing...but with the synchronicity of events and surroundings at a very special moment, these two words would eventually merge together as "OPUS MOON" and would play a key role in conveying the inspiration behind our music, songs and stories about the beautiful WILD MUSTANG.

And so the story begins…..

opus |ˈōpəs| noun pl. opuses or opera |ˈäp(ə)rə| 1. an artistic composition, esp a musical work 2. Music: a separate composition or set of compositions by a particular composer

When one hears all the beautiful sounds of the night....the rush of a gentle breeze, the low droning of crickets, the hoot of an owl, the cry of a coyote and countless other melodius elements,  one cannot help but contemplate the magnificent compostional skills of the Grand Creator. It is a symphony like no other. It serenades the soul like nothing else can. The moon, like soft glowing candlelight in the night sky gently caresses the land and is like the delicate sounds of strings in the background of this beautiful orchestral arrangement.

The sound of wild horses thundering in from a distance was like the sound of a lead instrument breaking in and setting the direction of this lunar musical masterpiece for all to follow in perfect rhythm and harmony. This is music at it’s finest. This is an OPUS MOON.

Early the following morning as the sun was just starting to rise, we could begin to clearly see some of the horses that were still remaining in the open sage park. A feisty and elusive young stallion by the name of  MOCHA  and his young mare Comet were in the far distance.

Slowly moving towards them and observing their body language, another connection to the understanding of their world was made....as well as the natal beginnings of the song LET THEM BE WILD AND FREE.

Be sure to check out the sample clip of this song on the audio player in the right side column of this page.

What a privilege and delight to have been entertained by these wild horses in a most exquisite moment in time and in a most enchanted place. This is just one of many experiences never to be forgotten.
